Why this exists

Most product reviews online are written by someone who never used the thing. They aggregate ratings, paraphrase the marketing page, and stuff in affiliate links. The information value is zero.

Cinderwall started with a different question: what gear and software actually helps you do deep work? Not what's popular. Not what has the most reviews. What actually keeps you focused, from the chair you sit in to the keyboard you type on to the software you run.

How we work

• Reviews come first. Every recommendation is researched against real specs, real use cases, and real-world tradeoffs.
• No sponsored placements. No "best products of 2024" lists ranked by who pays better commission.
• Honest tradeoffs. We tell you what works, what's overpriced, and what to skip.
• Affiliate-supported. Click a product link, buy on Amazon (or another retailer), we get a small commission. That is how the lights stay on. The recommendations are unaffected.

A focus tool, in development

The reason this site exists is the same reason a focus tool is in development: most software is built to capture your attention, not to give it back.

The tool is a small subscription product — Pomodoro timer plus website blocker plus AI session brief. You tell it what you're working on, it sets up your environment (closes tabs, mutes notifications), checks in midway through, generates a session report at the end. No social features. No streaks-as-manipulation. Just deep work.

If you want to be notified when it launches, the homepage has a signup form. We send a single email at launch and nothing else.
